The Conference of the Birds
The Conference of the Birds, authored by Farid Ud-Din Attar, is a seminal work in Sufi literature and Islamic esoteric thought. This text is also known in other Persian translations as "Speech of the Birds." The narrative unfolds during a gathering where the birds seek a new king to lead them. They embark on a journey through seven valleys in search of their destined ruler, the mythical Simorgh. Each bird symbolizes human shortcomings that hinder personal and spiritual growth. Written in the twelfth century, this work was once essential poetry for Sufis and is widely interpreted as an allegory for the human experience.
