Divine Justice and the Problem of Evil | Javad Shayvard | PDF Book Free Download

"Divine Justice or The Problem of Evil," authored by Javad Shayvard and published by the World Organization for Islamic Services in Tehran in 1977, addresses the issues of justice, morality, and the nature of evil from a Shia perspective. The book poses a critical question: If God is just, why does evil exist in the world? It highlights the prevalence of death, war, natural disasters, hunger, and other harsh realities of life. The discourse suggests two possibilities: either God does not exist, or He is a cruel deity who takes pleasure in human suffering. This profound question has been examined through various interpretations across different eras.

Some of these interpretations include the following:

God is the embodiment of perfection, and justice is an inherent aspect of that perfection. Thus, God is just, and any injustices observed in the world will ultimately be rectified. In essence, God has no needs, and injustices arise from ignorance, fanaticism, or necessity—none of which can be attributed to a Perfect Being.
Imam Husayn, prior to his martyrdom in the deserts of Arafat, articulated this notion by stating:
“God, you are so self-sufficient that you cannot benefit from anything. How, then, can we offer anything to you?”
