This Osprey title subtleties the epic four-month attack of
the city of Constantinople in 1453, last remnant of the once powerful Roman and
Byzantine Empires. Mehmet 'The Conqueror' drove a multitude of 80,000 men with
a monstrous attack train against the city. Guarding were an insignificant
10,000 men under the Emperor Constantine XI. The Turkish ordnance battered the
antiquated city dividers savagely, leveling an enormous segment. A brave
safeguard held off the monstrous Turkish strike for a few hours. Denying
requests to escape, Constantine came back to the ruptures and battled until
overpowered and executed. In this manner passed on the last Emperor of the
Byzantines, and with him his once sublime realm.
